From playing his original songs acoustic in small rural towns in country Victoria five hundred kms from the nearest city, Rod Davitt, singer ,guitarist and songwriter for Monkeytin , dragged his Bass player and Drummer all over Victoria and South Australia in 2005 playing small pubs and smaller pubs in places like Bendigo , Ballarat, SwanHill and Mildura eventually making their way to popular venues around Melbourne .On their way to record first 5 track Ep in Adelaide, South Australia was introduced to Monkeytins sound at places like the Exciter Hotel , The Goodwood, The Wheatsheaf Hotel as well as venues in the riverland including Loxton Berry and Barmara. Late 2005 saw Rod relocate closer to Melbourne and find present members John ( Dude )Brockton , Drums and John ( Guv) Chadderton , Bass. 2006/2007 seen Monkeytin establish a solid fan base around Melbourne and country Victoria regularly playing venues in Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Hepburn Springs, Geelong and many venues around Melb including the Espy and The Hard Rock Cafe. With their first self titled Ep receiving airplay on Triple M and many Community and Internet radio stations, Crash and Burn seems to have come out a favorite, especially with Boston 's Engage Radio where it spent 13 weeks in the top 10 . 2 weeks at No 1 earning Monkeytin a place in Engage Radio's Hall of Fame. 2008 seen the guy's back in the Studio and laying down some tracks for their follow up CD " BRAVE" which is now available from their Myspace www.myspace.com/monkeytinmusic or down loadable from ITunes Read more on Last.fm.
