It all started when a friend decided to bring his decks into school one day....... Mo has been breaking beats and making music in East End since the age of 15 - from classrooms, to backstreet youth venues in Brick Lane through to international festivals, London's club-land and beyond. Mo is helping to define Asian Drum & Bass where others failed to stand the heat. His roots in the East End are genuine and unlike so many imitators to the new East End, he brings to his music a great passion and experience. His sounds boast a distinctively London vibe inspired by traditions from other global influences - notably maestros like Ravi Shanker and poetic muses of Tagore. In a word - Mo's magic is a unique sound. Mesmerising. Melodic. Uncompromisingly raw. Mo has been spinning records, mixing beats and baselines faster than the chalk has dried on the school blackboards where he first started out - and there's no stopping him yet. With his debut album now out, Sirens, will silence the masses into surrender. Be prepared. Rewind. It started with a collision at school with the decks. Within a few years Mo brought his own decks and went out alone with his strong vinyl collection and DJing spots started piling in. Slowly the larger venues piled in and gradually Mo's name was etched in the underground dance music circuit. He was on the map. By 1993 his appetite for music grew - and he decided to turn his talents to making his own music. Mastering music and midi-engineering courses and stabs at building studios made this a seamless transition. His sounds were not discovered immediately though - a little while later he won a music competition and won his first contract to release his first track on a compilation album called Cultural Fusion. The release of Cultural Fusion sparked business opportunities and collided with the emergence of the East End as an area for new music, art, and politics. Mo had an excellent experimental playground to test out his new music - and the clubbers and punters flooded to hear Mo play. Various labels approached Mo, a few more releases later; he was finally spotted by Outcaste Records. Signed up, and with a fierce reputation as a highly technical underground DJ under his belt, Mo put his best works on the New Breed album and Dj work continued to flood in. Touring was the inevitable next step. International gigs and venues were added to Mo's growing accolades and soon he was no stranger to some of the biggest festivals. Having paved his career in London's club-land, Mo is now a sought after DJ who doesn't fail to rock any venue - whatever the musical concept. Mo now runs his own label 'Asian Dawn Recordings' and has released his debut album 'SIRENS' on it. The album is receiving very good reviews and is available to buy from most of the major download sites, as well as his own online store. www.momagic.com Read more on Last.fm.
