Minimum Chips are an Australian band formed in Brisbane in the early 1990s, now residing primarily in Melbourne. Their influences are varied and include 60s film soundtracks and French pop, indie rock and krautrock. Using a small but effective palette of instruments from guitar, bass and drums to Yamaha Electone organ, trombone and glockenspiel, Minimum Chips have managed to achieve a cult following in Australia. The group's members are also involved in other projects. Nicole and Julian have another band called Letraset; Ian is in dirgy art-rockers Bird Blobs, who are currently based in Berlin. Ex-bassist Guy Blackman also performs as a solo artist and runs Chapter Music, a local indie label. Minimum Chips are currently engaging in limited musical activity, due to the arrival of a baby.
