Mike Myers has been a driving force in the world of percussion education, arranging, composing, performing, and recording for over three decades. The Denton, Texas-based drummer, keyboardist began issuing solo albums in 1992. Myers simply goes to where the music leads him. Although he sometimes shows his influences of: Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Frank Zappa, his albums contain diverse styles which defy easy categorization, such as: rock, jazz, reggae, minimalism, electronic, progressive rock, ambient, etc. Myers began his studio experience in Lubbock, TX back in the 1970s and played on numerous demos, jingles and as a sideman on other people’s projects. Fast forward to the 90s and Mike turned solo artist and began releasing solo albums: Sonic Frontiers (1992), Myriad (1996), and The Big Picture (2012). Mike has also recorded six compact discs for Drop6 Percussion Publications and has produced and performed on numerous other CDs, including a 2004 release for Jamey Abersold's play-along series featuring the music of Dan Haerle. Today, Mike spends most of his time juggling various projects in his studio, surrounded by the latest in computer and digital recording technology, as well as a large assortment of percussion instruments. One day might find him recording drums on an audio file sent from across the country, and the next day he might be teaching a private percussion lesson. He also conducts clinics, teaches lessons, judges at music contests and plays professionally all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Read more on Last.fm.
