In the summer of 2008, after a handful of performances in the NY/NJ tri-state area, the overwhelming response to Mercury Morning's live show prompted the band to begin recording its first EP. After a few months in and out of Big Blue Meanie Studios in Jersey City, NJ, the self-produced five song EP, Hello Dreamer, mastered by indie favorite Alan Douches of West Side Music, showcases a short yet stunning collection of catchy well crafted songs. With memorable melodies and impressive musicianship, Mercury Morning is worthy of comparison to many a diverse music legend, yet able to keep a musical identity non-derivative of any one artist. A few EP tracks were posted online in December 2008 in streaming format as a preview to a formal release slated for March 2009 in both digital and CD format. The rare combination of talent, influences and experience is what makes Mercury Morning stand apart from its contemporaries. Members’ combined musical experience includes music composition for film projects, touring in support of major label artists, countless hours of session work and hired-gun stage gigs in genres spanning from acoustic, alt rock, post-hardcore, pop and a few others in between. All this gives the members the flexibility and ability to bring together a live show that successfully provides a consistent yet variable sound - leaving audiences members humming their favorite song next to a friend recalling another.
