Seasoned on the national scenes, M. Corisco has the talent of those who know what they are doing and what they want. Her inspiration in the rock of the sixties is more than apparent in her songs, although her music is also inspired by the most diverse of influences, achieving a personal and unmistakable style. She started her artistic career in the year 1996 with the recording of her first LP with SONY (CBS), which carried her own name as the title of the album. It was at this time of her life when songs such as “Iré” (I Will Go), “El dolor de la tierra” (The Pain of the Land), “La vida es un mal trago” (Life is Hard to Take), “Miedo a perderte” (Fear of Losing You) saw the light, with M. Corisco already showing fabulous skills for composition, thus reflecting a course and rough feeling overflowing with tenderness and fragility. The talent could already be seen much before this, when she would sing Janis Joplin songs or the songs of her idols from the seventies around the bars and cafes of Madrid and neighboring towns, and since then Merche Corisco has continued forming herself as an artist, performing with her own repertory all over Spain and abroad. Her evolution since then has been continuous, always composing and transmitting her songs wherever her travels have taken her. She called her second LP “Dulce Kaos” (Sweet Chaos), also released by SONY (COLUMBIA), resulting in a marvelous symbiosis of the consciousness and the unconsciousness... Sex and love, anxiety and madness, passion and pain. With a far more complex and elaborated language Merche Corisco has managed to describe all that Chaos, with a k, teaming with sweetness, above all demanding and proclaiming freedom and love. Thus her songs “Siento Frío” (I Feel Cold), “Coz y relincho” (Kick and Neigh), “Tal vez quizas” (Maybe perhaps), “Sobran las palabras” (No need for words) were born, with lyrics that go straight to the point, thus expressing her everyday, if in turn, very particular world. Collaborations with other artists are certainly not missing in her career, as is the case with the collection record “A dueto con Cecilia” (Duet with Cecilia) (Sony), singing the song “Andar” (Walk) with numerous renown and consolidated singers such as Miguel Bosé, Manolo Tena, Ana Belén... in her latest album “Buenas Noches Rose” (Good Night Rose), in the new record with “Nacho Campillo”, etc. And with even more strength than ever, Merche Corisco now returns with her new work called “OASIS”. Her eclectic view of reality is captured and reflected in the twelve, exquisitely composed, majestic songs. “Reina de las flores” (Queen of Flowers), “Caja de zapatos” (Shoebox), “Días sin luz” (Lightless Days), “Dentro de un cuadro” (In a Painting), “Tu formas parte” (You Are a Part of), are only some of the extraordinary works found in this new album, melodies that are sweet at times and heartrending at others, although always with a crystal clear message, in which her personal view of everyday matters such as war, sexuality, obsession, falling out of love are all included, and still absolutely faithful to what the electric guitar represents. An album that reflects the most conceptual rock to be found on the Spanish panorama, in which apart from a sophisticated and resounding production, we also find collaborations as special as those with Nacho Campillo, Javier Rubial and Quique González, artists that defend their authenticity and quality in their lyrics and music. Her career has evolved in all aspects, thus demonstrating this in her songs and in her live shows. Read more on Last.fm.
