"Described by some as a female Jeff Buckley, Mary Beth's strength is in her ability to create a soundtrack for modern day life, with the vibrancy of Sheryl Crow and the introspective and heart wrenching songwriting skills of Tori Amos. Her edgy musical persona takes the fluff out of your typical female acts, preferring to be brutal and honest, with a flair for sarcasm, captivating guitar riffs, keyboards, and styles that range from acoustic to all out rock." --Kaffeinebuzz.com Award winning singer songwriter Mary Beth Abella is the recipient of the Lionel Richie 2005 Songwriting Scholarship at UCLA, finalist in the Song of the Year contest, and a nominee of Westword Magazine's Best of Denver 2003 in the Singer Songwriter category. Mary Beth has been selected to perforn in various showcases and festivals including ROCKRGRL Music Conference in Seattle and the Acoustic Live Music Showcase in LA. Her debut album, "What Happened to the Girls?" is a collection of 12 of her favorite, original songs and was produced by her multi-instrumentalist brother, John Abella. The album was also named one of the best releases of 2002 by both the Denver Daily News and Westword Magazine and one of her songs, "Leave You Behind" has been featured on MTV Real World and Road Rules episodes. Another one of her songs was used in the indie feature, "Go Fish." A long time social activist, the artist has produced numerous shows featuring female artists, including the benefit, "Girls Gone Kerry," with Michelle Shocked as emcee, and was also the Founder of Colorado Women in Music, a coalition whose goal was to provide a web of support to local women in the music industry.
