Lilit Pipoyan

Lilit Pipoyan (b. 1955) is an Armenian architect, musician, and songwiter. Pipoyan was born on 16th June 1955 in Yerevan; her family was artistic, and she first studied music, graduating from the Spendarian music school, later studying architecture, and gaining a Ph.D. in the Theory and History of Armenian Architecture. Pipoyan's compositions are based on Armenian poetry and folklore. She is fond of mediaeval secular songs, for which she creates modern arrangements, or new melodies when the originals are lost, with a distinctly Armenian character. She also composes music based on modern Armenian poetry. She has recorded three CDs and has performed on stages in Armenia, Switzerland, Syria, and the United States.
