There are at least two artists with the name Liger: 1) http://www.myspace.com/postfolk http://www.iheartsinewaves.com http://www.beatismurder.com liger is a one-(and-sometimes-more-)man project of 25yo Dino Spiluttini, who also has his own LABEL and furthermore releases music and plays live gigs as yeah pretty boy, bruspi, duran durandom (and some more). he is currently living in vienna, austria. just so you know. october 2005 marks the official debut of liger, with the release of his first EP the infra-ordinary on his own fabulous netlabel beatismurder.com. primarily planned as another side-project, liger evolved into a time-consuming monster that took control over its creator. liger's music is based on self-made-percussion, computers and cheap string instruments from ebay. his microphones are ridiculously big and unaffordable though. sometimes people help out with more expensive gear. these people who have supported him so far are: -christian schroeder/graf herzogin(doublebass, melodica) -princess lea (glockenspiel, accordion, vocals) -stephan leeb (trombone, trumpet) currently he is being assisted by the unbelievably talented gernot scheithauer, who is supporting him live and in the studio by playing drums/percussion, glockenspiel, vibraphone, children's accordion and casio keyboards. amazing guy! 2) Liger: an indie-rockband from Rotterdam - The Netherlands At the end of the summer 2005 Wouter and Dennis met for the first time at a random birthday party and started talking about music. Soon they found out their taste of music was very similar and both played an instrument. A few months and beers later Liger was born, with Wouter as guitarist/songwriter and Dennis on bass. Liger started out as a tree-piece with the first of many drummers, but after a winter season of practising a replacement was found on drums in René and a second guitarist, Evert, was added to the line-up. Both musicians Wouter knew from previous local bands and they already played together for a half year. With this line-up Liger started working on defining their style, sound and 6 new songs later René got an offer to work in London, which eventually left the band searching for a new drummer, again. Two new drummers had come and gone in the autumn season, when Frank was found. His powerful and innovative style of drumming was a definitive match with Liger’s music. All songs were practised and restructured again and a few were thrown away. In July 2007 the band decided they had enough songs to perform and was eager to hit the stage. The result was the first show at a Beach Club near Hoek van Holland. The response was great and a spectator liked it so much, he arranged a show for the band in Winston Kingdom, Amsterdam immediately. After this more shows followed in places such as Exit, NL3, Paradiso, Paard. In October and November 2007 Liger has recorded a 4 song EP at Next To Jaap Studio (Green Hornet, Blues Brother Castro, Venus Flytrap, Soda P) source: www.myspace.com/ligersounds Read more on Last.fm.
