Lethal Aggression was formed in Brick, NJ in 1984 after it's prototype, Fallen Angel, disbanded. Lethal Aggression was formed from the sensibility of a Death/Thrash Metal band of the period with the added influence of Hardcore music - whose influence was sweeping the local scene at the time. The original lineup was John Salterelli [Vocals] - Rob DeFroscia [Guitar] - Spencer [Bass] and Phil Giordano [Drums]. After some initial live dates - Spencer was replaced on bass by George Yeck and Phil was replaced on drums by Kenny Lund. This lineup would become the classic Lethal Aggression lineup that would record the internationally known "From The Cunt Of The Fucking Whore" demo in 1984. This demo would become one of the most well-known demos of a death-core band of the entire decade and afforded the band national tours with bands like D.R.I. Lethal Aggression was also a seminal group in the Suburban NJ scene to set up their own gigs via renting out local VFW halls and hosting local bands. An entire scene was born out of shows like these in the years to come - but Lethal Aggression was definitely one of trail-blazing bands that started it all. Never a band to sit still - Lethal Aggression were always writing music and recorded a new demo in 1986 which was - although much less widely distributed - the superior of the already classic "FTCOTFW" demo. This demo included 16 brand new recordings that were a perfect musical progression of the genre. Lethal Aggression were an internationally known independent band long before the advent of the public internet. Lethal Aggression demos were distributed through the underground all over the world and the band headlined gigs everywhere in the New York tri-state area and beyond. In 1988, Lethal Aggression were signed to a recording contract by a German outfit called Funhouse Records and they began recording what would become their first LP - "Life's Hard, But That's No Excuse At All." This LP would include new recordings of a large portion of their already classic material from the previous demos as well as new material not heard before the record was released. While some considered the record over-produced, it was still an iconic example of a band that started from nowhere and became an international name based solely on the strength of it's music and message. It was at this time that founding member Rob DeFroscia left the band in favor of joining influential NYHC outfit Breakdown. Singer John Saltarelli continued on with the band - replacing Rob with former Social Decay bassist Dave Gutierrez on guitar. While this, and other issues between John and Rob, formed a rift in the previously united scene on the NJ Shore - Lethal Aggression went on to headline many more gigs in the local area and beyond. Rob found a great deal of success playing with Breakdown as well. Lethal Aggression has continued on over the years under the guidance of John Saltarelli and has gone on to record other CDs and demos. But this classic lineup remains known today with the 2005 re-release of "From The Cunt Of The Fucking Whore" on Relapse Records. Once again the world is aware of what this band has done in the past - and is continually reminded through the efforts of it's new lineup - still fronted by John Saltarelli. http://www.460daysmusic.com/lethal_aggression.htm Read more on Last.fm.
