Khaled Arman

Khaled Arman (b. 1965) is an Afghan musician and composer, specialising in traditional Afghan music. Arman was born in Kabul; when he was five years old he started lessons on tabla with Ustad Gholam Nabi. After taking guitar lessons from his father, he went on to study the instrument at the Prague Music Academy under Jiri Jirmal. After an international career as a guitarist, he returned to his Afghan roots, taking up the rubâb. He formed the Kabul Ensemble with his father, and as director takes it around the world.
