Karin Kortje is the winner of the 3rd season of Idols, South Africa, which took place in 2005. She had no formal training, but she sang in school choirs, at school and in front of the mirror at home! In her home town of Grabouw, South Africa, she was also part of a local band, called the Elgin Aires Dance Band, which is known for their "lang-arm" type music.
