Javier Guzman is a Dutch stand-up comedian and "cabaretier". He was born april 13th 1977 in Las Palmas, of a Spanish father and a Dutch mother. He studied at the Kleinkunstacademie in Amsterdam, from which he graduated in 2003. In the same period he worked at the Comedy Explosion and the Comedy Club in Amsterdam. In the London Comedy Café he recieved the 'Open Mic Award', and in 2002 he won both the Jury's first prize and the public's choice prize at the prestigious "Leids Cabaret Festival". In 2003 Guzman worked with VPRO tv on a show called "100% AB", and in december of the same year he made a special Sinterklaas show called "Guzman deelt uit!". In 2003 Guzman toured the Dutch theatres with his first solo show called "Bot". The first show was followed by a tour of his second solo show beginning at the end of 2004. This programme dealt with ignorance in Dutch society, it was called "Ton Zuur", named after a man who lay dead in his house for two and a half years. In his third show "Delirium" (2007) Guzman tried to settle with his past as an alcoholic. The show was nominated for and won the "Neerlands Hoop" prize. In september 2008 Guzman starts with the try-outs of his fourth show "Por Dios", with which he will be touring the theatres untill halfway 2009. Read more on Last.fm.
