Hunter Complex is the moniker of Lars Meijer. His debut album Hunter Complex has been released February 2 2010 and contains 12 songs. The music echoes influences by synthpop and new wave bands from the eighties, but will also appeal to fans of current electronic music acts. The debut album was preceded by the Here Is the Night EP, a contribution to Retro Retry 2: Another Another Green World (a remake of Brian Eno’s Another Green World), a track on Memory of a Free Festival – Een Narrominded Compilatie (mp3 download sampler included with the magazine Gonzo Circus) and a track on These Pictures of You – A Delicatessen Compilation. In the late 90’s, Lars Meijer started releasing music under the name Larz. One lp was released on Blackbean and Placenta entitled Moral Sewer (1998, re-released on Narrominded in 2001), and one cd on Blackbean and Placenta/Narrominded entitled Waving with Newtons (2000). Those two albums are best decribed as lo-fi pop. He also released the 7″ When Coffee Can’t Help You Anymore on Blackbean and Placenta, contributed to the Narrominded compilation We’re Running Out of West in 2002 and released the instrumental electronic piece Hoofddorp as a free download in 2005. In 2000 Meijer started the band Psychon Troopers (now known as Psychon) with Jantijn Prins and Coen Oscar Polack. The six albums they released contain improvisations in electro-acoustic music. The band later changed their name to Psychon, because the group abandoned improvisation in favour of composed music. They released one album in 2004 (Apocalypse Has Been Dubbed the Weekend Pill) and one was released in 2009 (Slow Country for Old Men). With Coen Oscar Polack, Meijer started the electronic music duo Living Ornaments in 2001. They released music on Skam, Scarcelight Recordings and Narrominded. Highlights are a split lp with Accelera Deck (2001) and their debut album Vlokken (2006). Their latest album, Korrels, was released in 2009. In 2004 Meijer recorded the Petrified Host-album As When Lighted with Gabry de Waaij (drummer in Boutros Bubba). The songs on that album are short, rocking and catchy. The past decade, Meijer also recorded numerous bands under the pseudonym Biff Eighties. Among them are Boutros Bubba, Makazoruki, Pfaff, Gone Bald, De Reizende Verkoper, Morbide Eenheid and the bands on Retro Retry’s Evol (Sonic Youth). In 2008 Meijer started working on his debut album as Hunter Complex. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
