There are two bands under the name of Hopes: 1). Hailing from Manchester, post-hardcore band Hopes formed in 2011 and immediately started working the indie gig circuit. They have released several free demos and singles, the latest being Light and Shadow single/EP. They already have become recognised on bills working with other local outfits such as The Carthasis, Wolves, Curses and You Cried Wolf to name a few. Upon participating in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam they received very positive reviews and ratings. 2). Soft and lush, atmospheric and melancholic, sometimes driven, sometimes driving, music to make you fall asleep then wake you up. Hopes began as the musical outlet of two Newcastle, AUS residents: Carlin Mclellan, and Mark Whittaker in 2010, the most recent title for a string of their collaborative efforts. Their performances picked up collaborators along the way since, and their sound evolved into a rich lo-fi pastiche of 90s shoegaze (My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Pale Saints), slow-core (Low, Codeine), & various local Australian underground heroes (Alps, Decoder Ring, Art of Fighting). The current incarnation of Hopes includes bassist Donal Dooley, drummer Thomas Lash (Control Disoder, The Strugglers, Brinkworth Ghost), percussionist Ash Campbell, and guitarist Oliver Young (The Pedantics, Cumlungz, Post Paint, Boatfriends, Brinkworth Ghost). Their live shows are characterized by close-knit spontaneity, and absolute sincerity. As of 2011 they have released several demos online, and are working on their debut album for release in the tail end of the year. 3) Melodic Hardcore band from the north of Czech Republic!
