Hemant Kumar alias Hemanta Mukerjee was the "Saint" composer and singer of India born in Kolkata, Bengal. His voice was so soothing and his composition serene, that they filled the listener with a divine feeling. Who can forget Tum pukaar lo, Yeh Nayan Dare Dare, Zara Nazaron se Kehdo ji, Ya Dil ki Suno Duniya Walon composed and sung by him. Other composers also utilized his voice to conjure such divine creations as Ai Bad saba Aahista chal, Zindagi Pyaar ki do Chaar Gharhi (C. Ramchandra); Yeh Raat Yeh Chaandni Phir Kahaan, Hai Apna Dil to Awara, Jaane woh Kaise Log the (S D Burman); Insaaf ki Dagar Par (Naushad). Occasionally, he used other contemporary artistes' voices to create such immortal gems as Man dole mera tan dole, Humne dekhi hai, Dheere dheere machal (Lata); Na jao Saiyan Chhurha ke Baian (Geeta Dutt); Meri baat rahi mere man mein (Asha); Hum laaye hain toofan se (Rafi); Woh shaam kuchh ajeeb thi (Kishore).
