There are several artists with this name but this is the official page for Gilbert Linley. http://gilbert.bandcamp.com/ http://soundcloud.com/gilbertlinley Matthew Gilbert Linley (aka ‘Gilbert’) is a London-born composer and musician. A debut album completed in 2007 - ‘Gilbert’ - received excellent reviews and extensive national radio play, gaining a release soon after on the John Peel-favoured Indie label, Shifty Disco Records. 2010 saw the completion of a new album, 'Wahoola!' and in 2014 Gilbert Linley completed a new album and released it under the name 'AztecCormorant'. In 2016 Matthew Linley collaborated with Mark Peters on an album/project entitled 'Salt Rush', which was released on the Pedigree Cuts label. Gilbert Linley also plays drums in Engineers with Mark Peters and Ulrich Schnauss. Gilbert's music is often stylistically eclectic and eccentric, crossing genres such as folktronica, electronica, classical music, dream pop and spoken word. The music is generally richly-layered, combining vintage analog synths and organs with orchestral instruments such as harp, celeste and strings. Vocals by Maud Waret have also featured more prominently in recent work. The music has been performed live throughout the UK by 5 people playing an array of instruments and has included notable sets at the 2007 Green Man Festival, 2008 Loop Festival, and 2009 Southbank Udderbelly. Gilbert also supported Mice Parade in October 2010. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
