Gene (Preston Eugene) Wyatt was born in Lake Village, Arkansas. His parents, the Arby Lee Wyatts, returned to Marthaville, Louisiana when Gene was about a year old. Music was his divine gift. Untutored, he became an accomplished guitar player and singer. He honed his art by playing and singing in the Wyatt's church as a child. One of the first personal appearances was at the Louisiana Hayride in 1957. He was lead guitar with the David Houston band and served as their opening act. They enjoyed the maximum popularity touring Europe, especially Germany. His highlight was playing the Paladium to a standing room only crowd. Gene Wyatt died January 16,1979 in Shreveport, Louisiana of a self inflicted gunshot wound. He married April 26, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Joereita Andrea Stanford (deceased). Two children: Kimberly Rachelle Wyatt (deceased) and Christopher Loren Wyatt (deceased). Two grandchildren: Dakota Loran Wyatt and Angel Wyatt. Read more on Last.fm.
