Guitarist/Singer Songwriter Gannin has been playing guitar since the age of 10. Early influences include Kiss, Queen, Boston, Rod Stewart, and Van Halen. At age 12, he studied Guitar with Adam St. James who is now the editor for guitar.com. Adam introduced Gannin to Jeff Beck and Allan Holdsworth. Through these players, he became interested in Jazz Fusion music. Gannin became heavily influenced by Pat Metheny, John Mclaughlin, and Scott Henderson, who later became Gannin's guitar teacher. Gannin and drummer Evan Stone started "Departure" a fusion band. Departure has opened up for artists like Chick Corea, Stanley Jordan, Billy Cobham and many other heavyweight Jazz acts. In his twenty's, Gannin renewed his interest in Rock/Pop music and started writing songs of his own. Through the years he has had the honor of playing with some of the greatest musicians in the world. Here's a small list, to name a few: Joe Walsh, George Duke, Jeff Lorber, Lee Ritenour, Tony Levin, Brian Bromberg, Vinnie Colaiuta, Simon Phillips, Michael Ruff and Jeff Berlin. At present Gannin is a member of Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins new band, "Coattail Riders". Their first CD produced by friend and Drummer Drew Hester, will be released March 7, 2006 on Thrive Records (mixed by the legendary Andy Johns and Drew Hester.) He has also joined forces with Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Look for a new recording sometime in 2006. Gannin will also receive his first Gold Disc for writing and producing the song, "I Surrender" on Jeremy Camps CD "Carried Me". Read more on Last.fm.
