From Jupiter

What began as an average kids dream, 19 year old JJ, graduated early from highschool and moved to California to make it. Within 6 months he was knee-deep into a recording project for one of Hollywood's ( by way of Burlington, Vermont ) most infectious and promising pop outfits, FROM JUPITER . Formed by lead singer JJ and joined by drummer Chris LaPlante in 2008, the universal power of this youthful smash-up pop duo is gearing up to shake up your teenage daughter's bedroom walls with their brand of high octane Pop Rock sensibilities and catchy alternative rock tunes. Evoking the sounds of sparkling pop with a healthy dose of cosmic noise thrown into the mix, FROM JUPITER is a jolt of fresh energy, recalling the distinctive influence of bands such as Third Eye Blind, smashing pumpkins, and your favorite teen punk band "Just like the British pop-punksters of decades past as well as the originality of today's rappers and electronic artists, our music is a self-styled slice of life, it's fun and it's edgy." notes lead singer JJ. "We love to have a good time and we want to reflect that in our music so that our audiences have a blast at our shows," adds drummer Chris LaPlante "but at the same time we also want to create music that is modern and timeless." FROM JUPITER lead singer JJ first began performing as a guitarist in various bands, always with a knack for the pop genre. Drummer Chris LaPlante, who is an extremely versatile percussionist, is known for his excellent jazz playing and at the same time for his skillz as a hardcore drummer. From 2001 - 2004 JJ and Chris performed in various line-up rotations with the Vermont based punk influenced group, Class Clown. The duo instantly had a strong musical connection and vowed to someday work on putting their own band together. Class Clown started to make headway and the duo reached many milestones during their time in the band including touring the U.S. and releasing two full length albums and a series of self released EPs. Additionally, Class Clown brought the attention to and won the VH1/School of Rock Battle of the Bands in 2004. JJ reflects, "I was a huge fan of Class Clown for many years before I joined the band. I loved playing with a young band that was used to presenting anything noisy to enthusiastically spastic audiences but eventually I felt a real need sing and to write smart pop songs with sharp hooks that cut through the feedback. That is when Chris and I decided to disband from Class Clown and start our own project with Third Eye Records." Indeed, it is that kind of wise-beyond-their-years outlook that has helped FROM JUPITER stand out from the crowd. It didn't take JJ and Chris long to pack in the same tightness and pummeling melody of their previous work, this time with the maturity and sincerity of a DIY band coming into its own. Today, FROM JUPITER has an undeniably strong, upbeat, top-of- the -charts sound. Though JJ and Chris are the main songwriters, the duo is currently trying out a revolving cast of musicians to join FROM JUPITER on a full time basis. Though in its early stages, JJ gives thanks to his bands current synchronicity, in part due to a newly hired rhythm section (musician friends from Burlington) that seem to nicely round out JJ's clever lyrics & vocal melodies and Chris's punchy musical rhythms. For the upcoming album, FROM JUPITER enlisted veteran producer Andrew Murdock a.k.a MUDROCK (Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Powerman 5000, Godsmack, Alice Cooper) to enlist his Midas Touch on to the FROM JUPITER debut. "The tunes are still written by us," says JJ. "Chris and myself have a great knack for production but we felt that Mudrock was the man to pull out as much creativity as possible ." Chris comments, "I think we've all grown so much during this process. Mudrock knows his way around the board like an astronaut in a space ship , he's a blast to watch.." During the entire summer of 2008 FROM JUPITER is turning things up a notch or two. The band will finish working with producer MUDROCK, tapping into a confident mix of pop and rock influences before wrapping up and heading into post-production in July. Short term plans of showcasing a prime batch of gloriously new FROM JUPITER tunes in the form of a residency in and around the Los Angeles area are also in the works. The new album is tentatively slated to hit streets Fall of 2008 on Third Eye Records and the band plans to embark on an extensive U.S. and European tour schedule to showcase their highly anticipated new works shortly after the release of the album. JJ comments, "With all the internet bands nowadays. I hope our fans find that From Jupiter is essential music." Read more on Last.fm.
