Cuban piano player Frank Fernandez captivated a Canadian audience with "a memorable concert with the authentic intensity of a talent going far beyond human possibilities," as said by local critics. It was Fernandez' first presentation before an audience that filled the Riddell Center University Theater, and the repercussions are still being heard, with the press as much as the spectators themselves, who are discussing it. "Every musical note was perfectly rich, in an amazing succession, and his fingers turned the piano keyboard into a form of visual art itself," said Canadian newspaper The Regina Leader-Post. The Canadian newspaper said it is tragic that most of the Canadian population is missing such a great concert and an impressive musical experience. It also highlighted the virtuosity of the Cuban musician while performing three waltzes by Frederic Chopin, 5 dances written by Cuban composer Ignacio Cervantes and works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert. His best moment was when performing a piece of his own, called "Suite for Two Pianos", one of the more than 650 compositions of the Cuban piano maestro, with five movements and combining elements of the symphony music with Latin American and Cuban rhythms. The Regina Leader-Post also highlighted the performance of female musician Liana Fernandez, who opened the concert with works by Argentine Carlos Guastavino and Alberto Ginastera, Cuban Sergio Vitier and his father, Cintio Vitier, with signs of artistic excellency and very good technique.
