Possessed by the sounds of Chicago Juke and Footwork, Timothy Jaxon set out on a mission to create his own identity within the ever thriving worldwide footwork dance culture. After a decade of musical silence, the sounds of Juke and Footwork had awoken a kindred spirit within him that lay dormant for far too long. And thus, FootMerc was born. Inspired by DJ Clent, RP Boo, Traxman, and the late DJ Rashad, FootMerc continues to pay tribute to the forefathers in his own unique way through sound. FootMerc started out as a break and street dancer at a young age. He made the natural transition from dancer to DJ at the age of 18. Dabbling in breaks, house, and soon after Jungle/Drum and Bass, landing many residencies in Florida and Texas. After a decade of djing, FootMerc hung up his headphones and disappeared into the fog-machine infested night to pursue visual arts. Looking for music to use in a short film he was directing, FootMerc randomly came across a DJ Clent track that would end up directing his own life onto a path he was all too familiar with. The rhythm was hypnotic and addicting. FootMerc claims to have played that DJ Clent track on repeat for a whole 24 hours and not getting sick of it. A million ideas rushed FootMerc's mind the instant he heard this one simple beat. Searching for more DJ Clent tracks lead to an underground world where all his past musical influences converged into one beautiful sound, complemented by the visual dancer. He was home. Hesitant to get back into the DJ game, FootMerc was content to practice making the tracks that inspired him so strongly. "A track a day" was his moto, as he continued to hone his craft. FootMerc did this for many years, giving 90% of his catalog away for free and building up quite an audience in doing so. Soundcloud eventually caught wind of his sampling antics and banned him from the website for life. Many collectors consider these lost "free" tracks to be priceless artifacts of antiquity. Upon creating the music, FootMerc also sought to connect with like minded individuals and crews to help push the sound to even greater heights. Traxman eventually brought him into TekkDjz where he currently resides. Rumor has it FootMerc only performs once a year at a venue of his choosing, and it's magical.
