The Fingertips debut album in 2003 achieved first place on radio airplay charts with the single “Melancholic Ballad”. This was followed up with two more releases (2006 & 2007) which saw the band repeating their success with top radio airplay once again. The band has a loyal fan base and has supported Nelly Furtado, Queen, George Michael, The Corrs and others. In 2010 the band went on a search for a new vocalist and out of hundreds of candidates Joana Gomes was chosen giving the band a new voice and direction. “Simple Words” was the first recording by The Fingertips with Joana Gomes & continues to enjoy airplay in multiple countries. Co-written by songwriters/producers Rui Saraiva & Helder Matos with Virgilio Fino the new lyricist born in London but with Portuguese roots. On the 30th May the Fingertips took to the stage at Rock in Rio in Lisbon marking the start of a new era for the band. Joined by special guests - Alexandre Almeida on guitar who collaborated in the studio with the band in 2003 & Brazilian musician/vocalist Zé Ricardo performing a duet with Joana on “Simple Words”. In March 2011 after months in the studio the album ‘Venice‘ is launched & distributed worldwide via iTunes & Amazon with “Dreaming Of The Moon” as the new single. In February 2012 the album, ‘2‘, the second album with Joana on vocals is released. “Running Out Of Time” was chosen as the single. Both singles achieved high airplay & a national tour has seen the band visit 25 cities & add a social component to the tour by asking fans to donate food products to later be given to local charities.
