One of the (oh so many) things that the world is lacking is odes to the important duck billed platypus, Sifaka, Toucan, 3 toed brown-throated Sloth, Sasquatch, the Panda, the Serengeti, Gaia, the Grey Wolf, the ever elusive Ocelot and a song about where this fascination came from, his uncle. Filkoe says “I'm recording this album and it’s kind of like all these songs are odes to animals on the endangered species list that I find interesting. This is for the heads, naturalists, lovers of the non-conforming arts, the universe, and promoters of positive energy.” With a love for all life, seen and unseen, a passion for early words written by early American revolutionaries and a 20-year love affair with all things b-boy led to Filkoe’s first official release on Endemik Music titled, “Lost Zoo Keys and the Animal Spirits that Haunt Them”. In a brave effort through poetry meets factoid done abstractly, Filkoe is seeking to help cause awareness of extinct and endangered animal species, pulling inspiration from golden-hearted savants such as Willis, Johnston and Darger, and every other rapper before him who has projected their voice in front of another. Now living in the haunted, once red light district of Georgetown, in Seattle, Washington, Filkoe’s originally is said to have come from the mystical energy of the Pacific Northwest, his obsession of the earth’s creatures and his overlooked, unnoticed and observation hermit lifestyle. Filkoe delivers hip hop heart-core with his in-your-face vocals and half-open-ear for sophisticated pop poignancy, mixed with quadruple entendres, unorthodox rhymes, high-pitched torque vibrato, layered harmonies, unique song arrangements and dusty kid record samples, Amidst the negativity surrounding the looming doom of future earth, he strives to stay positive while attempting to clear the cobwebs out of heads, and inspire to be inspired. “Lost Zoo Keys and the Animal Spirits that Haunt Them” was recorded to cause awareness and say, "It’s not too late" for those who appreciate the missing tooth smile of beautiful uniqueness and heady descriptions of situations. This album pushes to win over the hearts and minds of music and animal lovers everywhere. Filkoe and friends, in conjunction with Endemik Music pull out weirdo word melding, underground, save the dying animals rap that will appeal to indie rap/rock, folk, noise, alternative pop, spoken word, and animal loving vegan crowds alike.
