Somewhere between psychobilly, rock n roll and traditional rockabilly there in lies Faraway Boys. A power trio that began first on a street corner in the summer of 2005, and since has progressed to playing the local club scene as well as a string of small tours. Band members include Scott Young (a.k.a. Scotty) vocals/ guitar, Sean Walbrink (a.k.a. Bucky) drums/ vocals and Miguel Gonzalez (a.k.a. Ralphie) up-right bass/ vocals. The streets taught the band how to perform in front of an audience for the first time and gave them the confidence they needed to write songs. For some of the members this is their first band. Pulling from the greats Johnny Cash, Elvis and Stray Cats, it wasn't uncommon to see them on the corner every Friday night. By 2005 the boys decided they had out grown the little street corner in Laguna Beach and started to rehearse in a regular practice space. This time trying out original material for the first time. Within a few months time the first Faraway Boys first three song demo was recorded. The sound was more traditional and spawned the classics Sailor Jerry Rum and Cowboy Moon. For the next year or so Faraway Boys spent most of their time in a practice studio close to home refining their sound and focusing on performing live. The weekends would give them good opportunity to showcase the songs written during the week and becoming a better live act. The live show is the true love of the band. Their energy is contagious, full of emotion and heart-felt spirit. The band policy of "anytime anywhere" has led them from San Diego to Sacramento and parts of the midwest during the first year playing "anytime anywhere" they could. Currently Faraway Boys are in the studio making demos for an album that will be released in 2007. Their love for meeting new people, writing songs and playing live keeps them busy on most weekends. Put simply, their music is their life and love. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
