Ella Keighery Hooper (born 30 January 1983, Violet Town, Victoria) is an Australian singer-songwriter, best known as the front-woman of Australian rock band Killing Heidi, which Hooper formed in 1996 with her older brother Jesse. The band went on to achieve multi-platinum success with three top ten albums and winning multiple ARIA awards. After Killing Heidi announced an indefinite hiatus in 2006, Ella and Jesse continued to perform the band's material acoustically. The duo eventually began to write new material under the guise of The Verses, and released one full-length album, Seasons, in 2010. On November 21, 2014, Ella released her debut solo album, In Tongues, which received high praise from both fans and critics alike. Hooper's solo materiel explores a more intimate and personal side to the singer and dabbles in multiple genres including folk, rock, pop and electronica. Ella Hooper has since continued to peruse a solo music & media career to great success with her critically acclaimed double EP Venom / New Magic, sell-out national tours and various television and radio roles.
