Drums and Machines was founded by Rod Marquart in 1999, as an electro-industrial music project. Although it has manifested itself in various forms, the underlying current has always been a groove-based fusion. A drummer/composer for some 30 years, his work in this project now spans almost a decade with more than ten albums released to date. In addition, he has written and produced 2 independent short films, "Cannibal-...beyond horror", and "Shaman - ...a recipe for madness". Presently the 11th D.A.M. album (Take What You Need) is being released. "Making Monsters", "DNA", "Change", "Mayhem", "Poison Pop Fizz", "Jungletown" and "Amok" were all solo releases, complemented by two further albums "Pillbox" (2003) and "Freaky Scene" (2006)), featuring guest artists Gary Flanagan and ECMA award winner Troy Neilson (aka PimpT) respectively. Professional dancer Shan Powell (aka Shanmonster), performed live with Drums and Machines from 2004-2006. Songs from these releases have reached top 5 status on college charts across Canada since 2000, as well as having been featured on CBC's Brave New Waves. Read more on Last.fm.
