Driftrun comprise of four lads in their 20’s from Sheffield. Tony, Rich and Gilly all went to the same school and Tony met Chris at work in the ‘spilt factory’. After 3 years of crafting their sound, Driftrun are one of the most prominent names around on the Sheffield scene now. Never in their history have Driftrun been so confident that their music is heading in the right direction for them. The band somehow have found a way to fuse their passion for quality production, melody and rhythm, and in doing so have broken the mold of a typical local guitar based band. Driftrun’s sound has evolved in to something that no member of the band could have really predicted it would turn out like. The guitar centric band that Driftrun once were has given way to one of processed beats, filters and synths. Music these days is becoming a pretty mashed up affair, with the genre boundaries blurring more and more. Driftrun have embraced the creative freedom that such a situation generates, because they can and they want to. The rock/indie sound so ingrained within Driftrun’s music has not disappeared as such, its just getting fused with Drum n Bass, Breakbeats and dance in general. Its been a gradual evolution and its only since July 2010 with the recording of ‘Addiction’ the band have really found where they want to be heading. The band produce their own music from beginning to end. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
