Der Fluch is a gothic rock band from Germany. Founded in 1981 by Deutscher W. in Leverkusen, Germany. In the early days, the band's music was like a mix of Cramps, Meteors, Misfits, and of course OHL (another Deutscher W. band). For then Der Fluch was only a project of Deutscher W., who wanted to live out his preference for B-movies and the dark side of his soul with a new band. The first vinyl works, now considered rarities, gained immediate cult status. Der Fluch was the first band to play that particular style of music with lyrics that hadn't been heard on other Germans band. The band worked around with his B-Movie Music... a very own style of music to establish itself... Whoever during that time OHL remained as Deutscher W. top priority. Der Fluch celebrated in 2007 a thriumphant return to the stage at the world’s largest Goth-Festival “Wave-Gotik-Treffen” in 2007 Leipzig after a self-imposed Quarter-Century hiatus. The band’s first album was released in 1981 and that year saw the only and now legendary show of the cult-band that formed around famous German Punk-Singer Deutscher W. Shortly afterwards the band was laid to rest and was only reanimated to record three studio-albums in the early 90s, before falling apart again. Since 1981, Der Fluch’s classic songs like “Halb Mensch, Halb Tier”, “Rattengift” or “Hexen leben länger” have become dancefloor-fillers and are among the favourite songs of the Deathrock and Gothic crowd. On this year the band released a compilation with fellow German record label, Fiendforce, entitled GESCHICHTEN AUS DER GRUFT. On 2008 the band released yet another album, IM DORF DER VERDAMMTEN.
