Deleyaman is a French-American band founded by the Istanbul born American-Armenian musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist Aret Madilian. They create a rare kind of music which is difficult to categorize. Deleyaman's musical influences are vast. From ethereal-folk, post-punk to ancient Anatolian music from darkwave and minimal ambient music, their otherworldly sound offers something far beyond the music heard in mainstream genres. Many music critics have likened Deleyaman’s early albums to that of Dead Can Dance. Others have mentioned Leonard Cohen, Velvet Underground, Cocteau Twins, other world music artists upon hearing a piece of music or a passage from Deleyaman. Many more have inspired the band in shaping their authentic sound. The band members of Deleyaman don’t pay much attention to musical trends. They follow their own creative path veering clearly away from today's mainstream “pop-culture”. They've released five albums to date and continue to create a profound music defying the narrow vision of single genres. Sites: BandCamp and Facebook Read more on Last.fm.
