David Shannon

David was born on 22nd March 1972 in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, but grew up and went to school in Ireland. His musical career began in amateur dramatics in Ireland performing a wide variety of roles in regional theatres. His first professional break came at the age of 21 when he won a role in the touring production of Les Miserables in Dublin & Edinburgh. David has had consistent work in musical theatre and concerts since that time and has also written original songs which he hopes one day to record. David’s real name is David Greenway. He changed his surname to Shannon when he discovered that there was already a David Greenway in Actors Equity. David was nominated for an Olivier award in 2001 for creating the role of John in the Beautiful Game at the Cambridge Theatre. David is currently playing the role of The Phantom in the West End production of Phantom of the Opera. Read more on Last.fm.
