D Numbers is the life's work of three close friends who live in Santa Fe, NM. Since the band's inception in 2002, D Numbers has been steadily forging their own path in a jaded and post-everything modern music scene. It's not the kind of music that can be described in a nice little catch phrase, although some have tried ("prog-bot" being one of the more colorful attempts made by one Dallas writer). D Numbers' broad range of influences and long process of group development have led to a complex and unique hybrid of instrumental rock and electronica. Their powerful live shows have earned them a diverse and loyal following, while their début CD, Lightparade, proves that the trio easily bridges the span between the stage and the studio. The magic of D Numbers' live performances is in the real-time reorganization of analog sounds from live instruments into intricate webs of loops, samples and digital bliss. D Numbers creates multilayered compositions rich in texture and depth as the audience watches them bob and sway in sync; stomping on pedals and lunging for knobs and faders, all the while locked in to a solid groove. Exploring a wide range of feels and tonalities that range from melancholy ambience to aggressive rock to ecstatic funk, D Numbers takes their listeners on a sonic joyride. Following the release of Lightparade in March 2007, the band felt inspired to take their show on the road. To date, D Numbers has toured the west coast twice, the midwest once, Texas thrice, and Colorado more times than they can count, both headlining and supporting bills for a surprisingly diverse array of artists that include Beirut, They Might be Giants, Prefuse 73, Erase Errata, Octopus Project and Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. Response has been overwhelmingly positive across the board, confirming the band's hunch that indeed, they're on to something here. Read more on Last.fm.
