Cherine Anderson is the Queen of Dancehall-Soul Having collaborated on official remixes with legendary artists including Madonna, Britney Spears, Sir Paul McCartney and Wyclef Jean all before releasing her own formal product, Jamaican singer-songwriter Cherine Anderson already positioned herself as “one to watch”. Now, with the release of The Introduction-Dubstyle EP, fans of Anderson and her signature Dancehall Soul sound can finally own some of her infectious, original melodies. Cherine has spent 2008 on the road, touring with Grammy Award winning legendary duo Sly & Robbie (producers on the project), as well as popular indie bands Slightly Stoopid and Pepper. She closed the year touring the US and Australia with the prolific Michael Franti & Spearhead, in promotion of their album, in which Cherine co-wrote and performs on three tracks. Anderson also made her US television debut with Spearhead, appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. The New Year has already brought great things for the rising star. Cherine performed at three events celebrating the inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington DC (The Green Ball, The Peace Ball, Rock the Vote/RollingStone), where she performed alongside artists including John Legend, Maroon 5, Black Eyed Peas and Angelique Kidjo. Beauty aside this young powerhouse has all the goods to make an even bigger impact outside of her native island of Jamaica. Microphone in hand, that confident winning smile , vocal pipes that defy her 5" 3 petite frame and the ability to make her audiences feel like family , it is clear this young girl has that 'IT' factor. Her versatility shines through both on self-penned recordings as well as her energetic live shows. Winning one believer at a time while infecting the world with her feel-good Dancehall-Soul sound, Cherine Anderson will be one to watch in 2009 and no doubt beyond!!! Read more on Last.fm.
