Cécile Corbel

Cécile Corbel (born 1980, Pont-Croix, Finistère) is a French singer and harpist. She has released a number of albums of original music and worked for Studio Ghibli as a composer for its 2010 film, The Secret World of Arrietty. Corbel sings in many languages including French, Italian, Breton, and English and has done songs in Irish, Turkish, and Japanese. Corbel now lives in Paris and performs in France and abroad. Her music blends ancient poems and compositions, celtic tunes and Mediterranean influences. She was noticed during her concerts and had the opportunity to play with the greatest “world music” artists: -Alan Stivell - mars 2006 –Reims -Lunasa » (espace Prévert – Savigny le Temple 2005). -Hélène Flaherty (espace Prévert – Savigny le Temple 2005). -Ousmane Touré (espace Prévert – Savigny le Temple 2004) Many concert halls and festivals have already greeted her lately: (Le Satellit Café, La Maroquinerie, le Lucernaire, Solidays 2005, festival Massif Celtrad 2004, rencontres internationales de harpe de Dinan 2004 …) She was also warmly welcomed abroad: (Czech Republic, England (Kinnersley festival), tour in the USA 2002 and 2003 Louisiana, Texas,Washington DC…) She will be on tour in Australia in November/Décember 2006. She was awarded « Paris young talents awards » in june 2005 The cd The first LP topped 4th in Keltia Musique charts. The album has been broadcasted or playlisted on many radios in France and abroad (Canada, USA…) and the French musical press warmly supported it. The album celebrates a series of one hundred concerts performed over two years. The album was released in October 2006.
