Music has the power to get people dancing and Bop Skizzum likes to take full advantage of that fact. Gathering inspiration from every corner of the record store, the band meshes their alternative pop rock vibe with groove based funk, rock & dance music creating an invigorating blend of unique instrumentation with phenomenal vocals to complete their sound. Denver and NYC based singer Julie Almeria fronts Bop Skizzum as the lead vocalist. She is new to Bop Skizzum and totally ready to show off her silky, soulful voice. Guitar & Back-up Vocals are handled mightily, by band co-founder Andy “Rok” Guerrero; formerly of the socio-political hip-hop rock band The Flobots. Fellow co-founder and Music Director Serafin Sanchez provides the ‘3rd voice of Bop Skizzum’ (in the form of brass) with his saxophone. Serafin is a CU Boulder graduate with a Master’s Degree in Jazz Music. This inspiring song writing trio is grounded by the incredible rhythm section of groove master Chris Harris on bass and beat savant David Cannava on drums. Rounding out the brass section are the two-man trumpet power-punch of Joe Ferrone and John Lake. Bop Skizzum is pure entertainment. The band has been compared to No Doubt, The Heavy, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and N.E.R.D. But comparing them to others might narrow one’s view of the band causing you to miss the other 99 things that make this band so uniquely suited to help you get your groove on… Bop Skizzum was formed out of a desire to develop new musical styles and instill soul-inspiring messages through spell-binding vocals and original music; this is accomplished with an unparalleled group of musicians. To truly experience Bop Skizzum, you must allow yourself to enjoy the world of all things great. The land where music reigns pure as originally intended, and chemical reactions are an everyday occurrence between Bop Skizzum & anyone with the ability to feel the groove!
