DJ Bombah ( a.k.a Jamila Ezzahir: Dub Chamber Recordings / Drop Sound Recordings / Ulan Bator Recordings / Vinyl Pusha Sound System / Hum Fi Drum Recordings / WinnipegJungle.com / Rizla Kru / Extra Strength Productions ) born in Kraków, Poland, now residing in Victoria, British Columbia, has been actively involved in the Winnipeg drum & bass scene since 2000. In early 1999, she was introduced to the sounds of local breakcore / IDM guru Venetian Snares ( a.k.a. - Aaron Funk: Planet Mu / Sublight / Addict ) and was immediately attracted to the insane drums and time changes of breakcore / IDM / mash-up. Her love of reggae music combined with the breakcore-style drums of ragga-jungle, cemented her newfound interest in drum & bass. Jamila has held down DJ residences at the long-running "Extra Strength Saturdays" ( '04 -'06 ) as well as "Re:Fresh Thursdays" both, on her own, as well as with The Rizla Kru ( featuring herself, DJ Cookiemonstah & DJ Koza ). In 2006, Minneapolis artist The Artbreaker ( Grindthieves International / Vinyl Pusha Sound System / Good Fortune Sound / Morebetterthanyou.com / Devilmusic / Sickmode / North American Hardcore ) remixed a track she had written with local artist DJ Dexx. Soon after, Bombah was inducted into the Vinyl Pusha Sound System. Being part of the Vinyl Pushas helped Jamila to get her name out further, eventually leading to having some of her tracks pressed as dubs and played out by some of her biggest influences, Slyten ( Dub Chamber / Ghetto Life / Tonz of Drumz ) & General Malice ( Big Cat Recordings / N20 Entertainment ). Bombah was then invited to become part of Dub Chamber and Hum Fi Drum Recordings, and most recently, has won first place in the 2007 Croakinglizard.com ragga-jungle production competition, beating out some of her current favorite producers. Watch out for her first vinyl release, out on Germany's Ulan Bator Recordings!! Read more on Last.fm.
