Black Swan Lane :::: This is a project founded by Jack Sobel of The Messengers who had the incredible pleasure of playing with Mark Burgess of The Chameleons UK on some live shows in the Southeastern part of the US. It is a project formed with multiple band members including Mark Burgess, Yves Altana & Achim Faerber of Bird, Jack Sobel & John Kolbeck of The Messengers, Kwasi Asante (the nicest human being on the planet) who played on the last big Chameleons Tour and album., Anna-Lynne Williams of the wonderful band Trespassers William and a few other folks who provided some backup sounds. Thanks Kim, Nate, Nancy, and Justin. After the live shows, the “experiments” that were taped in the studio started to sound like something that should be not only recorded but also heard and appreciated. There is no real theme that needed to be followed during recordings, but instead, a true evolution of sounds and appreciation for all types of music. Songs recorded were meant not to grow old and stale but to give an impression of true feeling and spirit. Memories of sitting around with friends in awe at the sound of The Chameleons and The Sun & The Moon was a true inspiration of getting this unique sound back out there. Additionally, learning to play music in grade school to the Beatles and The Jam didn’t hurt either. Mark Burgess did not only make a true dream realized but has also helped to make another wonderful piece of art. ‘A Long Way From Home’ was worked on between concerts in 06 and on into 2007. Very tough finishing since Mark is in Germany now, Kwasi in Manchester, John in Augusta, Yves in France, Achim in Berlin and I'm in Atlanta. Anna-Lynne from Trespassers William who is in Seattle was great to sing on a tune as well. The project is both original and diverse bringing many cultures and influences together as one.
