Born in 1956 in Bengal (Eastern India), Biswajit Roy Chowdhury received his first lessons on the sitar and the sarod at the age of ten from his father Ranajit Roy Chowdhury. Later he was instructed by Pandit Indranil Bhattacharya and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, which strongly influenced his technique. In addition , the way of his Raga interpretations is moulded by lessons from the vocal legend Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur. The latter accepted Biswajit Roy Chowdhury as his disciple in 1983 and instructed him until his premature death in 1992. In 2001, Pandit Biswajit Roy Chowdhury storied the "Maestro´s Choice" series of Music Today as the youngest musician (see below). Press Review...
