'It slowly opens up to this great climax. A beautiful, plaintive pop tune.' Dom Alessio, Triple J's Home & Hosed. 'There's a Death Cab For Cutie-like melancholia to it but it moves into that grand orchestrated bit and suddenly gets all Polyphonic on us!' Steph Hughes, Triple J's Home & Hosed. 'Wonderful build, the production is great particularly the percussion. Nothing over dramatic - just strong songwriting,' Brendan Maclean, Musician & Triple J presenter. Bennie James pushes his dark rimmed glasses back into a comfortable position as he addresses the audience like a nervous and excitable host. He starts softly, sweetly even, but then builds himself up and unleashes the strength and growl in his voice. The Australian based Benjamin Szota fuses folk with pop to create catchy melodies & memorable moments. In the past few years, Bennie has opened for artists such as The Whitlams, Paul Greene, Brendan Maclean, Andy Bull, Skipping Girl Vinegar & Ernest Ellis in both a solo format and with band The Hesitant Few. 2011 saw Bennie and the new band team up with producer Paul McKercher (Augie March/Sarah Blasko/You Am I) to create two new tracks: the folky builder ‘Listen Closely’ & the kitsch indie love song, ‘Please Mend Me.’ The songs have been played on Triple J, ABC Illawarra and FBi Radio. 'James won over the audience with his honest performance style, warm, appealing voice, and catchy melodies and rhythms.' Read more on Last.fm.
