Apes on Tapes come to light in Bologna (Italy), during the warm sweaty spring-summer of 2005. Antani and Lagàr were two solo artists (actually Antani played with the Blip Trio), but since they listen to each others live performances, at Homework Festival 3.0 (May 05), they understand they have to build and deconstruct tunes together. Luca (Lagàr) was an italian-east-coast-rock-addicted teenager who later moved to electronic beats; Giordano (Antani) grew up with Akai samplers in an old school hip hop atmosphere in Tuscany. They both go to the uni in Bologna and fall in love for Scott Herren's never-heard-before hiphop. Lagàr loves Antanis feelings for hip-hop rythms and his melodic reversed guitars. Antani is looking for Lagàrs fat basses and hip-hop minimalism...in other words they find out they must become a duo, since one fills the others lacks and vice versa. This is how Apes on Tapes was born in the spring-summer 2005, right after Homework Festival. Apes on Tapes play live sets with a laptop and midi controllers (since they're not so good as djs :)...), having fun deconstructing their own beat lines and rebuliding them through shuffled crazy triplettes. They performed at Cassero (Bologna), MUV Festival (Florence), Millennium (Bologna), Homework Festival 4.0 (Bologna), Dancity Festival (Foligno), Covo Club (Bologna). Still looking to release a material cd or vynil, Apes on Tapes come out with "Ape Re-thieves", their debut four tracks ep on Homework Records Netlabel, in January 06 .
