Billion Pound Project is the debut album from Andy Lewis. It showcases the songwriting and production talents of the one-time tour DJ for Blur and pioneer of Brit Pop. Andys abilities and musical knowledge have led to jobs providing music for websites, short films and adverts, sifting through archive material to put together compilation albums for Sanctuary records and latterly playing bass for and producing cult indie pop band Spearmint. Billion Pound Project has drawn on all these skills. Building on the reputation of three critically acclaimed singles, the album is the most successful release from Acid Jazz records in many years. Helped on the way by features on radio stations 6 Music and BBC London the first print run sold out in less than a fortnight. With a re-print and a re-launch to the press imminent, it looks set to move out of the underground and into the spotlight. Billion Pound Project features guest vocal performances from Keni Burke, Bettye Lavette, Reg King, Fonchi, Dave Jay, Loleatta Holloway, Lynda Lawrence, Andy Ellison and The Exciters, and exceptional assistance from Hammond organist Richard Milner, drummers Alon Cohen and Nick Van Gelder, saxophonist Michelle Imbierski and Andys long standing musical collaborator Pete Twyman.
