Ami Sioux was born in Stockton, California and has traveled and lived across San Francisco, New York, Berlin and Paris. She has been taking photographs primarily since 1995. In the fall of 2002 in Berlin she started playing a guitar of a friend of hers and subsequently found out that she had a voice. In 2004, she made the first recordings of "Lowly Levelin'", a song about the loss of innocence and the game of gossip. This first recording was picked up in Berlin by her friend, Voin Voinov, who put it on his first hand released compilation of songs. After self recording her first demo, she then went on to recording 11 songs in 2005 and released the first release in June 2006, entitled "To Take You Down". It was a limited edition self-released series of hand made cd's. The album engages many themes, but it is mostly in a sense a sort of a documentation of a departure, as the music is still in its evolution stage, so it is in a sense a photograph of the starting point. She is currently working on her next album to be released early 2011. It will be titled "The Next In Line" . Demos from this new album will be presented here and on her facebook and myspace profiles.
